Moze Koze
This book, written by O'Sensei Brian Frost, was
completed while he was in the hospital shortly before his passing in September 2009.
The book is now in its final form and is ready for production. The book is titled "Maze Koze". Here is an extract from the preface of the book:
Maze Koze (a medley) may be loosely translated from the Japanese as a “mixture of this and that.” Sometimes used to describe a potluck meal or a sort of “crazy quilt” approach to something. The following pages are bits and pieces, odds and ends, tidbits, snippets of information, knowledge, wisdom, advice, and trivia. Gleaned from more than forty years of seeking and striving to find and follow the path (Michi/Do) of Bu. The forthcoming transmissions have been compiled from many sources, not the least of which has been my venerable teacher and guide on this lifelong journey, Onishi Eizo. The contents of these rambling scribbles of one who seeks without finding, are set down in no order. Such is life, as the only thing certain is death. We stumble along and search for answers and clarity and purpose. It is through this often seemingly random struggle that we experience our existence. I have therefore felt it appropriate to put this text in a form that makes it impossible to “instantly” turn to the desired topic. All too often, information is considered more important than knowledge (which can only be obtained through effort). Thus, I deemed it fitting to present this “mixed stew” in a “way” symbolic of the process in which we all must live our lives, for the Budo is a microcosm of life and is thus applicable to both the mundane and sublime aspects of animation.
The cost of the book is $15. Proceeds from the sale of the book will go into a national Koei-Kan Karate-Do fund.
Sensei Brown has copies of the book at the dojo while supplies last. Contact him if you're interested. If the books are sold out at the dojo, please send an email to:
